The goal of our YMCA family programs is to help the individuals that make up families grow spiritually, mentally and physically. To accomplish this goal, YMCA programs and program activities help families grow personally by building self-esteem and self-reliance. Families can strengthen their positive values by learning and applying our core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith to their lives through our programming.

At the YMCA we help families grow in the following ways:

Build Developmental Assets—create an asset-rich environment for all youth, providing children with the assets that have been shown to help foster and nurture positive development; support families in their efforts to build assets with and for their children

Lead healthy lives—provide physical, mental, and spiritual well-being for children and their families

Appreciate diversity—help families celebrate their own culture and beliefs and respect people of different ages, abilities, incomes, races, religions, cultures and beliefs

Become better leaders and supporters—Give families an opportunity to work toward the common good of a group; promote leadership development through volunteer development

Improve personal and familial relationships—help families learn to care about, communicate with, and cooperate with one another; help families connect with other families for support and friendship

Have fun—most important, make sure what we do with families in the Y is fun; help families enjoy life and each other

Serving families has always been at the heart of the Y. We are a place where they can find respite from social, economic and educational challenges, and learn how to overcome them. We have a fundamental desire to provide opportunities for every family to build stronger bonds, achieve greater work/life balance, and become more engaged with their communities.
